|Yesterday, our dear Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Uncle, Desiderio (Jim) Aguilar left this world to be with Jesus in Heaven. Our Dad passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, April 16, 2014.He had immense faith in God, and a great love of his country. Jim served his country proudly in the Navy during the Korean War. He loved his work and felt so proud to work for the Federal Aviation Administration until his retirement. Jim loved airplanes his entire life, and we have many funny stories about his crazy plane that still sits in his garage. He was always whistling a tune, whether he was working in the yard, cutting his many nephews’ hair in the kitchen, or dancing with Mom in the living room and Jim could dance a mean jitterbug! Dad could fix anything and did. He could fix a car, a washing machine, or a leaky faucet. Jim could build a room, roof a house, and lay cement. He could grow green chili, herd cows, and fry up a great batch of potatoes. Jim remembered everyone’s birthday, and we would be awakened in the morning with his harmonica version of “Las Mananitas”. Our Father was the kindest, smartest, most honest man we ever knew. He taught us about personal responsibility, integrity, respect, hard work and unconditional love. He taught us that you have to earn your way in this world through hard work. He worked harder than any man we have ever known or will ever know. But, he never complained. He loved his family, his children and his four grandchildren with his whole heart. But, he saved the biggest love for his wife, Juliette Miera Aguilar, the love of his life. He was our Hero, and we will miss him forever. Jim is survived by his wife, Juliette; his children, Larry Aguilar, Roxanne Wiest, and Jeanette Harris (husband Michael); grandchildren, Samantha Rivera, Paula Procida (husband Josh), Scott Harris and Robert Harris; sister, Connie Montoya; brothers, David and Johnny, and numerous nieces and nephews. All services will take place Church of the Risen Savior, on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 beginning with recitation of the Rosary at 8:30 AM, with funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
