Preston, Janyce Kerr “Jan”, age 67, passed from this earthly life on June 2, 2014 after a very short illness. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Rich, and their four children: Doug Preston of McMinnville, OR; Ethan Preston and wife, Jennifer Stojak of Phoenix, AZ; Ben Preston of Houston, TX; and daughter Beky and husband Blair Dunn of Albuquerque, NM; and her sister Marsha and husband Don Anderson of San Antonio, TX. She was blessed with five grandchildren: Kole, Harper, Jack, Archie, and Gus. She was born November 22, 1946 to Jack and Rita (Rodgers) Kerr of Albuquerque. Educated in Albuquerque prior to college, she attended the University of New Mexico and was graduated with high honors with a degree in Latin American Studies in 1968. She then attended Tulane University and was graduated in 1970 also with a degree in Latin American Studies. She and Rich Preston were married February 3, 1969 in Albuquerque. Jan was blessed with and endeavored to develop many gifts throughout her life, including the ability to speak five languages. Her kind and friendly disposition welcomed others to be at ease; she had many friends and a very close family. She was exceptionally blessed with the ability to work with children, teaching and guiding them to develop their unique talents, which she truly loved. She loved teaching and being a mother to her own children, whom she treasured and loved dearly. With her husband, she was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for nearly 35 years. Her loss to those around her is felt deeply. Funeral arrangements have been set for 11 am, Monday, June 9, 2014, at the LDS Chapel located at 11750 San Victorio NE, Albuquerque, NM. There will be a visitation for family and friends from 9 am until just before the funeral. Additional services will be performed at a later date.
